Baba — The Elder. The Silence. The Weight That Holds.

Here’s Baba read about him below…

The Elder

The village quietens when he arrives. Shaped by older truths, harder worlds. He has watched chiefs sell land for promises and boys return from the gorge changed forever. He remembers what others try to forget.

The Keeper

This is where Baba holds the story together. Not everything in this story can be explained by force alone. Forget has the rifle where BCI scramble blinds the sky. Baba has the memory of what the river has taken and what it has given.

The Presence

This is The Presence. When Baba stands on the veranda, donors stop talking, scouts stand straighter, and Thor’s team understands the mission is not just about rafts. It is about what remains after the rafts are gone. Depth, warning, and stillness that cannot be bought.

Meet Baba….

The Zambezi does not care about age. It responds to instinct, experience and courage. And Baba — Lennart — has no intention of watching the adventure from the shore.

Thor’s father and Tessany’s grandfather, Baba is an experienced adventurer whose years in challenging environments have taught him to stay calm when others hesitate. Physically capable, mentally sharp and fiercely independent, he refuses to be treated as fragile simply because he is older. For Baba, adventure is not something that belongs to the past. It is part of who he is.

When Thor worries about his safety, Baba sees things differently. He believes he can handle himself — and that staying close to his son is safer than being left behind. Their relationship carries a quiet tension: a son determined to protect his father, and a father determined to stand beside his son.

As the journey unfolds against the power and unpredictability of the Zambezi and Victoria Falls, Baba’s experience becomes increasingly important. His practical intelligence, judgement, social confidence and wilderness knowledge give him a valuable place within the expedition.

But this is more than an adventure. A dangerous criminal operation is closing in, bringing personal relationships and survival into the same fight.

Connected to Thor, Tessany, Steve and Hugh, Baba represents loyalty across generations.

He is courageous, humorous and experienced.

And when danger arrives, he refuses to step aside.

Some men watch the adventure from the shore. Baba gets in the boat.
