In the dangerous world of Devil’s Pool, Book One, where the Zambezi is as unpredictable as the people who navigate it, survival can depend on one decision made in a split second.
Steve Walker is a former SAS soldier, strategist and Thor Johansson’s trusted operational partner. Quiet, controlled and fiercely loyal, Steve is the tactical counterweight to Thor’s instinctive leadership. He does not need to dominate a room or speak the loudest. He watches. He calculates. Then he acts.
His military experience has shaped him into a highly capable operator, with expertise in security, tactical planning, weapons, surveillance, logistics and river operations. When danger closes in, Steve brings discipline and precision to situations where hesitation can cost lives.
But beneath the soldier is a friend who will go into dangerous territory for the people he trusts. His loyalty to Thor repeatedly pulls him into high-risk situations, forcing him to balance military discipline with friendship, responsibility and the human cost of the mission.
Surrounded by allies including Hugh, Baba, Ayra and Zili, Steve becomes part of a tightly connected team caught between adventure, family, business and a criminal operation.
For Steve Walker, the objective is simple: protect the team, complete the mission and get everyone home alive.
Steve by fire
The Top Dog Steve is the rock the river flows around. The quiet guardian who will sit by the fire all night, close enough to hear anything, far enough not to intrude.
Captain training years earlier. He knows currents the way snipers know wind. When Thor is blackmailed by Mozambican cartel boss Sérgio Santos.
Calm and collected
When there is trouble, he is the one to calm and always comes with the solutions.
